Carneval

In recognition of Stig Lindberg’s centennial jubilee, Gustavsbergs Konsthall is showing contemporary ceramics by seven artists and crafters: Karin Karinson, Haidar Mahdi, Joakim Ojanen, Matilda Haritz Svenson, Sara Söderberg, August Sörenson and Emelie Thornadtsson.

Stig Lindberg was a person of unlimited energy and he seems to have worked day and night. There are innumerable services of tableware, unique ceramic objects, patterns, illustrations, advertisements and apparatuses that started life on his drawing board. It is precisely energy, the ceramic frenzy and the desire to display one’s work that is the focus of this exhibition at Gustavsbergs Konsthall. The seven ceramic artists featuring in the exhibition may never have thought of their own work in relation to Stig Lindberg’s praxis. But their art relates in different ways to the ceramic tradition that Stig Lindberg worked in: domestic items, figurines, the factory, an interest in movement and a desire to entertain = CARNIVAL.
